CALL FOR CHAMBER-VOCAL MUSIC

Fresh Squeezed Opera is pleased to announce a Call for Scores to be performed by our ensemble at our annual Showcase in Fall 2022. 

​

Fresh Squeezed Opera looks to emerging artists and composers to create our performances within the contemporary music community. Our process lends itself to fulfilling learning experiences for everyone involved. We aim to create exceptional collaborative environments, making the pieces performed are truly living, breathing, works.

​

We do not require a fee to submit, but we kindly ask each composer to consider making a donation of $5. (Donations will not affect final decisions).

 

​Submit 1-2 pieces that meet the following criteria:

• Our theme this year is: “I’m just trying to have a nice fucking  day” - the piece must be comedic or funny in some way

• Between 7 – 15 minutes (can be multiple movements)

• With the instrumentation of 1 singer, and a maximum of 5 instruments (can consist of sop/mezz/ten/bari; fl, cl/b.cl, ob, bsn, hrn, v, va, c, piano, electronics (fixed or live), perc (limited))

• The work submitted does not need to be un-performed (ie, this performance does not need to be the premiere of the work)

• Composer Name

• Librettist Name/Words by

• Duration

• Instrumentation

• Program Notes (100-500 word summary of themes, music language, and why you chose the text)

• Performance History

• Recording (midis are acceptable)​
